Michele Cleary, PhD
Michele Cleary, Ph.D., is Vice President of Academic Outreach, Deerfield Discovery and Development, and joined Deerfield in 2021. Prior to joining Deerfield, Michele Cleary was Chief Executive Officer of the Mark Foundation for Cancer Research, which she joined in 2017. Before The Mark Foundation, Michele was Vice President at Bristol-Myers Squibb where she led early clinical and translational research teams across multiple therapeutic areas. Michele has also held several senior-level positions at Merck & Co., Inc. overseeing the development and application of innovative platforms aimed at understanding the molecular mechanisms of cancer, identifying new therapeutic approaches for multiple diseases, and functionally validating novel drug targets identified

through human genetics. Michele received a PhD in Molecular Microbiology and Genetics from Stony Brook University and completed graduate research at Cold Spring Harbor Laboratory followed by postdoctoral training at Princeton University.
